Team 204 took a little trip up to Colorado last week… a good time was had by all (well… maybe not everyone…). There was fly fishing, climbing, too much drinking, and as much bike riding as my sea level living ass could manage in a week at 10,000+ feet of elevation. Trip leader Brad took me out on 3 rides (3.1 if you count the last minute drunken attempt to go for a ride at nightfall - it went about as well as you could imagine…) for a total of 47.43 miles and 4990 ft. of elevation gain. While there, Brad and I also rode the coolest bike ever and caught some massive fish… it was a good week… check out the whole photo set on my flickr page here.

so, was out in oregon for a few weeks… highs in the seventies, snow capped mountains in the distance… all good things. got out a few times and sampled some local flavor… they do things a little different than we do here in centex. here’s the elevation chart for the ride…

6 mile, 2800 vertical foot death march to get to the top, and then the fastest, sweetest singletrack back down to the start…. incredible trail. lots and lots of fun. got a few pics, will post them later… going back in august, and promise to get some better shots then…

so…. its quickly becoming apparent that I have two courses of action. Either I learn to keep the rubber part of the bicycle facing down, or I’m gonna have to start wearing one of those Life Alert necklaces with the button that calls an ambulance… and for those of you squinting and turning your head sidewise, no, thats not my ass. That sexy, creamy white flesh is my thigh… bask in the glory, few people get to see that much sexy in one day.

So, in the spirit of sharing, I took a page out of Wade’s book on Friday and decided to crash my bike. I was attempting a new riding technique where you continue forward motion, but in an inverted position where the bike is more or less riding you. While technically successful, I really feel it had mixed results…

ok. so, yeah. I did something cool today… despite the fact that there is a two part system to start the damn thing, consisting of one switch you have to slide with your thumb, and a trigger you then pull with your fingers, I somehow managed to turn the weed eater loose on myself. In the 3 nanoseconds it took the information to travel from my hand to my brain, that there was, in fact, something horribly wrong, I burrowed a nice hole in the top of my hand. Hooray! The damn thing is, despite my best efforts, I can’t imagine a scenario that would involve me having one hand on the handle of the weed eater, and the other hand in the splash zone… oh well, sadly, it’s probably not the dumbest thing I will do this week… Anyway, for your viewing pleasure, below is a picture of the idiot that was on the receiving end of an ass whooping from an electric weed eater. enjoy.

knock knock. wha? I wonder who that could be…. oh, it’s wade’s good buddy, brown santa, and look! he comes bearing gifts….

now, to the untrained eye, thats a big pile of stuff… in reality? yeah, thats a frame and handlebars away from the sexiest bike you’ve ever seen…. frame should be here within the next few days, and if bss can get their shit together, and get germ’s bike out the door, he’s hooking me up with some handlebars…so, yeah…. check back for progress reports on the bike build. and, oh, yeah… wish me luck….

yeah. thats a pink sticker thats says “Look what my Daddy’s money bought me.”….. on a Honda Civic….hatchback…. still, not as badass as the two Dodge Rams I saw parked side by side at the HEB by my house… a white one with a huge Autobots sticker on the back window, and a black one with, you guessed it, a huge Decepticons sticker…. sigh…. are you people even trying anymore? jesus…
