So, me and all my buddies either have already, or will soon turn 30. Now, I know it’s just a number, but man, that sounds old… to celebrate the aging process, here’s an old SNL commercial that addresses what we all have to look forward to in the future… enjoy.

Well, it’s official.  My transient and nomadic sub-nature suffered a huge blow today when I became the recipient of an accepted counter-offer to purchase myself a domicile.  The search has been long and somewhat treacherous, but barring any snags with the inspections, city permits, etc., it is finally over.  The house is completely awesome, the previous owners have done an amazing job with the place.  We close in two weeks, and once I get settled, you just know there’s gonna be some kinda ho-down.  I threw some pics of the house up on my flickr page, sorry they are low res, but next week I’m gonna try to get some better ones during the inspections, so check back.

Now…. all I gotta do is get the city to let me build this behind it, and I won’t have to drive 3 hours to use my shop any more. Won’t that be novel…

I’m off to Waco for 6 days to get me some schooling from the Homestead Heritage Center for Essential Education School of Woodworking, which is a really long name for a place, to be perfectly honest. Hopefully it will be money and time well spent, and I will return to Austin a better woodworker, with a larger knowledge and skill base. The long days spent in the shop should be a blast. My only concern is what the hell I am going to do in Waco, Texas for six nights, cause lets be honest… that town sucks. But, got a hotel with free wifi and taking several books, so hopefully I will pass the time easily. But just sayin, to the 5 or 6 people who read this thing? Yeah, you’re probably gonna get some bored Rob dials this week… you’ve been put on notice.

while i did in fact learn a lot this past year, at the moment three things i learned in the final hours of the year are in the forefront of my mind…
1. cupping your hand over a match so germ can light what you believe to be a punk, but is actually a sparkler… not good.
2. trusting others to control how much alcohol i consume, while fun at the time… again, not good..
3. trying to get into the garage at 8320, to see how B’s coming along with the restoration of his truck… not possible.

maybe it’s time to bump clean the garage to the top of the ol’ project list, eh? well, after you finish the koi pond, of course…
